On Tuesday, Southwest Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration reported that flights at airports across the country had been briefly halted due to an “intermittent technology issue,” but service has since resumed.

According to a statement given to NBC 5 by the airline, Southwest has resumed its operations after a brief suspension of flight activity earlier in the day, due to issues with data connections caused by a failure in the firewall.

According to a statement from Southwest Airlines to NBC 5, there was an unexpected loss of connection to some operational data due to a vendor-supplied firewall going down early on Tuesday. However, the Southwest Teams acted quickly to minimize any disruptions to flight schedules, and the airline appreciated the patience of its customers and employees during the brief service interruption.

Southwest Airlines tweeted on Tuesday that they were hoping to resume operations soon after experiencing intermittent technology issues, and apologized for any inconvenience caused to passengers. They added that they were working to get everyone going as soon as possible.
