Samsung released the Galaxy S23 Ultra along with its smaller versions which had One UI 5.1 and various new camera features. In late March, Samsung issued an update focused on improving the camera and fixing bugs for the phones. The company also announced its plan to bring many of the new Galaxy S23 camera features to the premium Fold/Flip lineup as well as the Galaxy S22 series.
However, a Samsung community moderator has recently stated that certain camera improvements will not be available for the Galaxy S22 series.
The Galaxy S22 series will not receive certain camera enhancements such as 360 audio recording with the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and the ability to capture 50/100MP photos in ExpertRAW. A Samsung community moderator revealed that there is no support plan for the S22 model regarding 360 audio recording. Samsung had announced the 360 audio recording feature almost a month before the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, without mentioning that it would not be available for the S22 lineup.
The phone also mentioned that the Galaxy S22 series will not be able to capture high-resolution 100MP photos using Expert RAW due to limitations in processing and memory usage. Additionally, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 108MP sensor cannot provide enough resolution for 4-in-1 pixel binning to take 50MP photos, as reported by SamMobile.
Due to limited resources, Samsung has decided not to introduce certain minor features to its 2022 flagship smartphone lineup. However, the company is planning to bring most of the significant camera improvements from the Galaxy S23 to the Galaxy S22 and its previous flagship models. These enhancements will include features such as image clipper, which allows users to isolate the subject from the background in photos, integration of ExpertRAW into the Camera app, Astrophotography mode in ExpertRAW, Astro Hyperlapse, auto framing, improved support for lens switching, and various other upgrades.
