According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple has limited staff access to OpenAI's ChatGPT.

According to the Wall Street Journal report on May 18, Apple has limited its employees’ use of external artificial intelligence tools, including ChatGPT, as the company is working on developing its own artificial intelligence technology. The restriction is due to Apple’s concerns about the potential leakage of confidential data by employees using these artificial intelligence programs. Additionally, Apple has suggested to its employees against using Copilot, a software code writing automation tool owned by Microsoft and hosted on GitHub.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, announced that it had implemented an “incognito mode” for ChatGPT. This mode ensures that history of users’ conversation is not saved or utilized to enhance the artificial intelligence system. The move comes in response to increasing concerns and scrutiny regarding how artificial intelligence chatbots like ChatGPT handle and utilize huge amounts of user data to improve their performance through training.

Furthermore, OpenAI launched the ChatGPT app for iOS devices in the United States earlier. This expansion brings the conversational artificial intelligence capabilities of ChatGPT to Apple’s iOS platform, providing users with access to the chatbot’s functionalities on their iPhones and iPads.
